Greg Westbrook | Chief Executive Officer
Greg brings significant experience in scaling and commercialization to ClearCove. He joined ClearCove upon his retirement from Flextronics International Ltd., where he achieved considerable success across numerous leadership roles.
As President of Flex Consumer Digital, Greg was head of a global team that delivered consumer products to top tier global brands. Under his leadership, consolidated divisional revenue increased from $2.5 billion to $3.8 billion. As President of VistaPoint Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Flextronics, Greg delivered optomechatronic solutions to key smartphone and gaming device manufacturers, growing revenue from $100M in 2009 to more than $400M in 2012. Concurrently with his VistaPoint responsibilities, as President of FlexPower, Greg oversaw the delivery of power supplies and chargers to the mobile and consumer electronics industry, increasing the division’s revenue by an incremental $100 million (during a 12-month period).
Prior to Flextronics, Greg built a 20–year career at Eastman Kodak which culminated in key leadership roles during the Company’s digital transition. While at Kodak, Greg gained extensive global experience. This included working in Tokyo, Japan, for seven years, where he acquired an intimate knowledge of business practices and the digital marketplace. Greg started with Kodak in 1985 as a Facilities Engineer, eventually becoming a Corporate Vice President in 2003.
Greg lives in Canandaigua, NY, where he serves as a Deputy Town Supervisor.
As an alumnus of Rochester Institute of Technology, Greg is a member of the President’s Roundtable, a group that provides insight into the University’s strategic goals. He is a frequent guest lecturer at the University of California, Santa Barbara, speaking to undergraduates about manufacturing leadership in Asia.
Terry L. Wright | Founder, Chief Technology Officer
Terry is the inventor behind ClearCove’s transformative Enhanced Primary Treatment (EPT) technology. He is a well-known wastewater industry thought leader and innovator whose considerable contributions span more than three decades.
Terry was elected by Canadian Occidental Petroleum as one of seven members assembled to create a state-of-the-art rigid plastics manufacturing facility. He also developed the concept of placing a grinder in front of a fine screen for the New York State DOC and OGS. He created the DualSand product for use in the New York City watershed, which obtained EPA equivalency to microfiltration. Notably, Terry designed a system to treat toothpaste wash water, considered one of the most advanced wastewater treatment plant (WWTPs) in the world.
In total, he has designed more than 14 WWTPs, encompassing myriad ground-breaking innovations—both products and processes—which have been incorporated into new WWTPs or as upgrades to existing plants.
Prior to founding ClearCove, Terry was a Wastewater Treatment Systems Design Engineer for Trans Terra Corp., providing sub-consultancy to companies such as Siemens, Veolia Water and Delaware Engineering.
Terry holds a Bachelor’s of Civil Engineering Technology in Water/Wastewater from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Gary Miller | President, Chief Operating Officer
Gary brings extensive experience in scaling and commercialization to ClearCove. He joined the Company following many years as a senior executive and Corporate Officer for multiple companies spanning technology, packaging, distribution, manufacturing and sustainable materials.
As President of Unisource Global Solutions, Gary built the Company’s international footprint, implementing world-leading (sustainable) packaging engineering and manufacturing solutions. Under his leadership, he grew the division from zero revenue and a $2.2 million loss to $65 million in revenue, returning significant bottom-line results and average annual revenue growth of 60+%.
Gary joined Unisource Worldwide as a Senior Vice President, shortly after the Company was acquired by Bain Capital. His leadership roles spanned several business units, including the National Accounts and Corrugated Packaging and Design businesses, where he managed a P&L of $750 million and grew profitability by $26 million.
Gary spent over 20 years in the semiconductor and computer systems industries. He was Senior Vice President of Sales and Field Operations at Nu-Horizons. While at Pioneer Standard Electronics, where he managed the Strategic Accounts and Electronic Manufacturing Services businesses as Vice President, he grew revenues from $35 million to $200 million, expanding the operation internationally.
Gary is a graduate of the University of Rochester. He lives in Fairport where he is active in a number of charities. He is also an advisor to several new start-up ventures within the Rochester community, and is a Co-founder of Cedar Creek Product and Technologies. Outside his working life, Gary enjoys spending time with his family and making the most of upstate New York’s beautiful outdoors. He is a keen golfer and cyclist, and likes to go camping and fishing as often as he can.
Greg Siembor | Chief Financial Officer
Greg provides ClearCove many years of diverse financial experience. He’s helped grow both large and small companies, from start–ups through organizations generating over $600 million in revenue. His core areas of expertise include strategic planning, M&A and fiscal management.
As CFO of Odyssey Software for seven years, Greg oversaw revenue growth of more than 32% annually. After an extensive M&A process in 2012, Odyssey was acquired by Symantec Corporation.
During Greg’s six years as CFO of X-Net Associates, the Company raised capital to transform itself from a consulting services operation into a software products organization. X-Net Associates was acquired by S1 Corporation in 2004.
Greg spent 15 years with Citibank. He held several roles during this time, including Principal Financial and Accounting Officer responsible for the $320 million IPO of its Student Loan Corporation. Greg served as Controller of that publicly traded company, helping grow it to a market cap of more than $1 billion.
Greg also owned and managed a consulting business that provided part-time and interim CFO-level services to small and medium-sized businesses in industries, including: software, manufacturing, Internet marketing, healthcare, financial services, dairy and professional services. Greg started his career as an auditor in public accounting.
Greg is native to Rochester and enjoys all the benefits of living in the Finger Lakes Region, including cycling and golfing.
James Gaffney | Senior Vice President, Engineering
Jim’s business experience spans advanced product engineering and development, engineering management, quality management, operations management and general management. He has been an entrepreneur, business owner, CEO and President.
He grew up in Albany, NY, and graduated from Union College, in 1980, with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He worked at General Motors for 13 years in various positions, from an Advanced Product Development Engineer to a Quality Manager and Manufacturing Manager.
In 1988, Jim was awarded a patent (owned by GM) for a vacuum-regulated, integrated electronic exhaust gas recirculation valve, and received second prize in Plastics News’ ‘Most Innovative Use of Plastics’ Awards. In 1989, he was granted a GM Fellowship to continue his education for an MBA at the University of Chicago, graduating in 1990.
After leaving GM, he became the Worldwide Process Engineering Manager for Bausch & Lomb’s sunglasses division. After Bausch & Lomb sold the division, he led the successful turnaround of a financially-distressed local injection-molding company.
In 2003, Jim and two partners acquired another financially-distressed manufacturing company, which led to the creation of ValTech, a company that focuses on value creation through innovation in the manufacturing environment. As CEO and President, he facilitated and managed the acquisition and merger of two more companies: All Mold in 2004 and JADA Precision Plastics in 2007. Despite a challenging economy, ValTech has grown tenfold in 10 years, adding and retaining hundreds of manufacturing jobs in the local market, including jobs taken back from overseas competitors. ValTech serves more than 200 companies in several industries, including medical, automotive, energy, electronics and food & beverage.
Alain Grant Mahmoud | Chief Marketing Officer
Alain provides ClearCove more than 20 years of global marketing experience spanning 100+ brands across 35 industries and 100+ countries worldwide. A self-described eclectic brand strategist, he has helped myriad organizations generate hundreds of millions of dollars in incremental revenue through the deployment of engagement programs.
He began his career with Richemont, who sponsored him while he was at business school. Thereafter he plied his trade at Y&R (planning and account management), B.A.T. (international brand management) and Bedrock Brand Consultants (acquired by EY), where he served as a director for five years.
Alain’s brand experience encompasses global, regional, local and start-up offerings: corporate, divisional, product and service. He was also a member of the founding team behind the world’s first mobile app discovery technology company, which went public in 2010 ahead of being acquired in 2014.
A sampling of his business and brand experience includes: Frito-Lay, LG, Swiss Air, Chevron, TRPA, ExtraMile, Microsoft, FamilySearch.org, Mimvi, Bank of Hawaii, Kaiser Permanente, Hyperion, Texaco, California Garden, Harry Ramsden’s, Wells Fargo, Entrepreneur Media, Savant Investment Group, AAA, Caltex, Spencer Trask, Jiffy Lube, Seiko, Actus Lend Lease, Le Meridien, Lucky Strike, First Insurance Company of Hawaii, IDG, OT Group and Del Monte.
Prior to joining ClearCove, together with his wife, Alain traveled around South Asia for nearly three years. During this time, he visited more than 50 places across 14 countries; volunteered with non-profits; consulted with US-based and Asian businesses; and rescued stray cats, one of whom is now a resident of upstate New York.
Alain is a graduate of Bradford University’s School of Management (UK). Outside of work, he is a passionate art collector who enjoys hiking the trails in New York’s glorious state parks.
